Since I haven't had time to write anything for the short story corner recently because of our editing deadlines on Killer at Large, I thought that I'd be able to post up a list of videos I've been responsible for.
Missy Trailer - So, first up is the trailer for Missy, my first film, co-written, co-produced and co-directed with Elias. Missy tells the story of two men traveling in a spaceship and things take a turn for the worst when they start to show signs of cabin fever. This was made right when we got out of high school across 1999 and 2000 and made it to the semi-final round at No-Dance in 2001.
The Misbehavers: Teaser, Trailer, Celebrity Bonerfest, Operation Nighthawk - Elias and I had worked on films and screenplays with a chap named Ryan Williams for quite a while and in late 2003, he called us up and asked us to help market his film at the 2004 Sundance film festival. We said we would, but the film wasn't actually in the 2004 Sundance film festival. So this is a document of the lengths that were gone to to market the film.
This Divided State: Trailer, Sean Hannity part 1, part 2 - If you don't know the scoop with This Divided State, that means you probably don't know me. I produced and assistant directed this film that takes place on the eve of the '04 Presidential elections.
KILLER AT LARGE: Here's the youtube link to the first teaser trailer for Killer At Large.
The BYU 25: This is a clip from the film. BYU 25 chronicles the events at Brigham Young University shortly after the school announced that Dick Cheney would be the commencement speaker. I produced and co-directed this. The film is still forthcoming.
The Fleapit Three (full film), Fleapit Three Trailer: This is a film that Elias and I directed (it was written by Elias, Jason, Derek and myself) and we spent spare time filming it on Sunday's over the course of a year. It's not the best way to make a movie, but it's funny. This was 2006. (also, here's a video about the time we almost got the whole crew arrested filming a robbery scene.)
Infidelity Trailer - This is a trailer to a film Elias and I wrote along with a fellow called Ryan Williams. Infidelity is the story of a man who wants to test the fidelity of his wife and to do it, he asks his best friend to seduce her. Elias and I produced this, Ryan directed. This was our first work on 16mm film. We showed this to investors, but it never got picked up to get finished. This was 2001.
Scene from Infidelity - In 2003, I put together a scene from Infidelity to show people, hoping that I could make it myself, but we ended up getting too involved with The Misbehavers to do anything about it.
Standing 8 teaser - In 2003, Elias and I had another script we wanted to film called Standing 8. It was like Lord of the Flies mixed with American Grafitti about a group of kids who go out in the wilderness to play fantasy war games during the last summer of their youth. UPDATE: I added the Opening Credit sequence to the film (or what was going to be...)
Revenge of the Jawa - On the second anniversary of the release of The Phantom Menace, Elias, Paul Green and I went out to the sand dunes of Utah and shot this fan film. (that would make it May 2001) Steve Sansweet (head of fan relations at Lucasfilm) himself said that it was funny.
Pirate Club the series: Episode 1, Episode 2 - As some of you may know, Elias and I help script the comic book series Pirate Club, which was conceived and drawn by Derek Hunter. It's about a group of little kids who think they're pirates. We thought it would be hilarious if we made some short films like the ones we used to make when we were kids about the Pirate Club featuring us as the characters. We should make more of these.
Black Tie Affair Teaser, Fire and Pain section and the Opening - These are three videos from a skate video I produced. I wish I could have been more involved than that because this stuff is really good.
Romeo and Juliet: Opening scene, Apothecary scene - Joel Petrie directed this mixed media version of Romeo and Juliet on stage. Some scenes were played out on stage, others on film, actors would cross back stage and into the film or vice-verse. It was really unique and interesting. I shot the opening scene (since Joel was in it) and assistant directed it and helped with the cut of the script.
Middle Ground Trailer: This is a movie Joel conceived and wanted to film. He asked Elias and I to write a draft to show some people in 48 hours. We did it. It was 90 pages long and, for 48 hours, was pretty good. This is the trailer he shot from it to try to get some money for the project.
Saturday Shorts: Saturday Shorts was a group of us that committed for quite a while to shooting a short film every Saturday. The rules were simple, we just had to finish it in that one day. So, of all those we did, these are the ones I can still find on the internet.
Breather.
Mucha Libre.
Bad Guy Fighter.
The Zombie one.
Channel surfing.
Here's something from the new batch of Saturday Shorts:
Timmy Learns His Lesson
And here's another one that predates all of the Saturday Shorts that we shot waiting in line (overnight) for the first X-men movie.
Monkey See, Monkey Do
So, I'll continue to add to this as we post videos or I find videos posted by others (which is the case with most of these). Let me know what you think.
