Awards!

I was honored to receive 3 and a half awards in Salt Lake City Weekly's Best of Utah 2012 competition. The first award was labeled " Best Self-Promoter ", but when on to explain that it was for their being impressed with how much I accomplish in my life as a writer, filmmaker, columnist, and quizmaster. Bryan Young is, hands-down, the busiest guy in Utah media that you’ve never met. Aside being a founder of Shinebox Media and Big Shiny Robot! (as well as a contributor to City Weekly), the writer and producer has a long list of projects that makes you wonder when he sleeps. Included in that list: Geek Show Podcast panelist, Huffington Post correspondent, author of five fictional novels, nationally regarded Star Wars expert (he’s received personal invitations to Skywalker Ranch), independent film director, pub-quiz host, and soon—we hope—seller of an energy drink of whatever is keeping him going. Hopefully, it'll get people to check out my books. The second awa

Letters From Elsewhere

It's been a while since I posted and for the month of March I haven't felt as though as I've had much to show for myself. It's not that I haven't been busy or I haven't been writing, I've just been working very hard on things. I finished the revisions on Operation: Montauk and I'm very, very happy with how far its come. It's still on schedule for a release at Origins. Speaking of Origins, there are a couple of collections I've been asked to participate in that will see release then. I'm very excited about the piece I submitted for the collection, and I can't wait to see it along side the others. The other project is a sort of text book on building worlds. I'm not sure how much I can say about it at this po

SLC Nerd 2012

I wrote a piece for Salt Lake City Weekly about this weekend's SLC Nerd Event , but I failed to mention in the article that I will be there participating as well. I've booked a table and will be there signing books. I will have the print versions of Lost at the Con, Man Against the Future, The Colossus, and God Bless You, Mr. Vonnegut. I'll also have the audio book version of Lost at the Con (which contains the ebook versions as well.) SLC NERD The Complex 536 W. 100 South Saturday, March 24, 2 p.m. $8 in advance, $10 at the door, $7 kids under 12 at the door Writing Update: I'm still hip deep in revisions of Operation: Montauk. It's been an arduous process, but I think the resulting book is far better than I'd imagined possible. It's going to be a very fun book and I can't wait to unleash it on you. I'm still planning on premiering it at Origins Game Fair , but there's a good chance I might have it done in time for Free Comic Book
